Your rail network cannot be truly safe or efficient if you do not have the ability to monitor the whereabouts of your trains and communicate with them at all times. Regulation is changing and innovation is essential to compliance.

Inmarsat’s Satellite Rail Signalling Solution enables the rail operator to accurately monitor and control their rolling stock, anywhere on the planet, without investing in expensive trackside monitoring equipment.

Getting up and running with our solution is simple, as it is fully integrable with existing track-monitoring technology, allowing you to fill in dark spots and achieve full visibility.

How we can help

Enhanced Safety Standards
By understanding where your rolling stock and maintenance vehicles are you can reduce the likelihood of accidents or congestion.

Achieve regulatory compliance
Rail networks are increasingly subject to regulation governing safety levels and levels of operation and asset visibility.

Increase network capacity
With full visibility of your assets’ location you can safely orchestrate more rolling stock on your track, leading to increased efficiency and profits.

How the solution works

Satellite Rail Signalling utilises our L-band Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) along with hybrid cellular connectivity to deliver a highly resilient connectivity link between your trains and your control centre.

What this means is track-side monitoring does not need to be installed everywhere, saving the train company money and ensuring an efficient and safe network. Trains can be accurately monitored and controlled to allow greater capacity on the line, opening up segments which were previously blocked and inefficient.
